Introduction to Color
This class has been designed to provide a basic, yet thorough, understanding of colors and how they are used and conveyed by both the artist and the viewer. This is a comprehensive beginners, 2 hour art class. There will be a total of 8 spots available. Cost for this class is $40.00.
This class will be held on Thursday, Feb 21st from 6-8pm.
In this introductory course, you will learn the following:
Basic understanding of color pigments and how they effect color
Complementary, analogous, and monochromatic color schemes
Differences between opaque, semi-transparent and transparent colors and why this is relative to your artwork
Introduction to undertones, masstones, muted colors, neutralizing and staining
How to create a color palette specific to desired subject matter (landscape, portrait, etc.)
Understanding of hues, saturation, and value and how to achieve them in your color mixing
Blending and mixing of colors
Basic understanding of mediums used to help create various styles and techniques for color
Understanding of color temperatures and how this will affect your artwork
All materials will be provided for during the class.
At the end of the class, each student should have a solid understanding of the basics of color and be able to utilize it in future artwork.
